Drawing its origins from traditional extreme scenes (Enslaved, At The Gates ...) as well as more recent and innovative movements (Der Weg Einer Freiheit, Deafheaven ...), the album offers a unique and unprecedented vision, mixing death metal gimmicks and black metal influences to a wave of melancholy, peculiar to our time. The resulting music is intense, intimate and unbridled. ABOUT TOWARD THE THRONE Toward The Throne is an atmospheric death metal newcomer and reviver from France, bending and filling the old school, almost disappeared spirit of the early 90’s with a modern production, definitely steeped in melancholy. Founded in 2012, the band immediately released a first 3-tracks eponymous effort highly influenced by the Scandinavian death metal scene to unleash the fury on local stages. Since then, Toward The Throne has sharpened its riffs and rewritten the foundations of its unique Death Metal sound. The newborn EP entitled “Claiming the Sun, Bringing the Darkness“ (2017) set the scene: melancholic, heavy and incisive, including majestic soars and gloomy melodies. After a successful tour across Europe with notorious bands like Prong (US), Noctem (ES), Winterfylleth (UK), Zornheym (SWE), Une Misère (IS) and Fractal Universe (FR), the band is now ready to make its mark with “Vowed to Decline”: an ode to melancholy.
