Live: Huge protest in Paris after Macron appoints Michel Barnier as the prime minister

France’s left-wing coalition stages a major rally in Paris after President Emmanuel Macron appointed former EU Brexit negotiator Michel Barnier to the post of prime minister. One of the NFP’s leaders, Jean-Luc Melenchon, condemned the move to appoint Barnier, claiming ’the election has been stolen from the people’.
